Event Description
Leng Kee Indian Activity Executive Committee along with LCIC is organizing the Annual Rapid Chess Tournament on 15 November 2026 from 9am till end at the Leng Kee Community Centre, 400, Lengkok Bahru, Singapore 159049. All players with a FIDE ID below 14 years of age are eligible to join this tournament. If the players do not have a valid FIDE ID, they will not be allowed to participate in this event. USCF ID and FIDE Online Arena ID are unlicensed and not valid for participation in Singapore tournaments. Please ensure that your players obtain a valid FIDE ID from their country’s chess federation if they are not Singaporeans. There will be 4 categories and players can only take part in ONE category – multiple entries will be voided. Players may play in a higher category based on their age eligibility, but not lower. Players who enter the wrong category based on age eligibility will be voided.

The closing date for the registration is 23 October 2026 or once the total number of registrants reach 200 players (whichever is earlier). The decision of the arbiters is final.

General Rules and Regulations
Tournament Format:
This Tournament is FIDE Rated and shall be governed by FIDE Tournament Rules and Regulations. The tournament shall be conducted in the Swiss System, using the Swiss Manager Program. The rate of play shall be 15 minutes with 10 seconds increment from move 1. Recording is not compulsory but will be handy as proof in the event of a dispute. Default time is 15 minutes (Clock runs to 0). All players will get to play all the rounds of chess.
Playing Schedule:
The prize presentation ceremony will commence soon after the completion of Round 7 and once the final results are ready to be released. Besides Round 1, all other round start timings are estimated timings. Rounds may begin earlier or later depending on how long the previous round takes.
Ranking:
The final ranking is determined by the total number of points scored. Each player will be awarded 1 point for a win, ½ a point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. If two or more players are tied for any place at the end of the tournament, the following tie break criteria will be applied in the listed order:

The organisers are pushing for inclusion, and participants should display sportsmanship and avoid conflicts. In the event of a dispute, the Chief Arbiter’s decision is final.

Other Rules:
- All details of the players and school must be clearly provided in the online registration form. Player’s names should be in capital letters as in FIDE ID. Incomplete forms or late submission will not be considered.
- The closing date for the registration is 23 October 2026. Once we have reached the target number of players, we will cease registration. Hence, please register soon.
- All players who have registered for the competition need to report at the venue on 15th November 2026 by 9am in their full school uniform for the technical briefing.
- All players need to produce their identification cards for verification if requested.
- Players are expected to not have any phone or digital device that can transmit information. Players can put them in their bags, pass it to their accompanying personnel. Violation shall result in an immediate loss of game.
- Players/Parents are responsible to take note of the tournament dates, times and tournament rounds. Any missed registrations/tournament rounds will not be entertained.
- Games will start on time. If players reach their boards late, they will still be allowed to play but with less time as their clocks would have been started.
- Players are allowed to spectate games other than their own as long as they refrain from making any noise or otherwise distracting the players.
- Upon registering, the players will be under the charge of the volunteers of the Organizing Committee. Accompanying parents, guardians and teachers can wait at the sheltered Basketball court outside the Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) and will not be permitted to enter the playing arena once the tournament has begun.
- After each round, players must report their scores to the pairing officer (who would be near the stage at the MPH). The obligation to report the score lies with the winner of each round, or with both players in the event of a draw.
- The Chief Arbiter reserves the right to manually re-pair players at any point in the tournament to minimise the number of players without a match due to withdrawals and no shows.
- To preserve a positive playing environment for all players, anyone deemed to have behaved in an unsportsmanlike manner or in a manner demonstrating a lack of integrity may be removed from the tournament without refund and barred from future events.
- The organizers reserve the right to amend the said rules of the competition at any time. Any amendments will be made known to the contestants as soon as possible.
- In the event of cancellation of the event by the organiser, players will be notified and refunded in full.
- No refunds will be given after payment for no-show or cancellations. The organiser reserves the right to allow reschedules to future tournaments.
- The organiser reserves the right to remove anyone from the tournament with no refund of any fees paid in the event of non-compliance with the Rules and Regulations.
- Players and guests must take care not to cause damage to the premises or playing equipment. Players and guests who cause damage shall be liable to pay the building administration and/or the tournament organiser for the fair restorative value of the object(s) damaged.
- Pictures and videos may be taken of all players for marketing purposes.
- All players must be accompanied by their parents/teachers/guardians to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
- Vegetarian bento lunch boxes would be given to the players soon after round 3. The players are not supposed to open or consume the lunch within the playing arena and are expected to go out to the sheltered basketball court outside the playing arena for lunch.
- Trophies will be given to top five winners for all the categories – U8, U10, U12 and U14. Category prizes may change based on registration.
