Event Description

Jalan Kayu Youth Network - Team Tournament 2026
Date: 30 August 2026, Sunday
Time: 10:00am to 7:00pm
Briefing commences at 9:45am
Venue: Fernvale CC, Level 4, Multi-purpose Hall
Price: $160 per team
Format: 4 players in a team
Rating cap: Average rating per team not more than 2200
Registration closes by 23 August 2026, Sunday, or until tickets are sold out, whichever earlier

Event details:
- 7 rounds Swiss (team)
- Time control: 15 mins + 10 seconds
- The chief arbiter's decision will be final, and no appeals will be entertained
- Tie breaks will be announced before the start of Round 1
- The tournament shall be played using FIDE laws of chess. The Swiss system for teams will be applied. As this tournament is FIDE rated, all players will require a FIDE ID. 

Prizes:
- $800 NTUC Vouchers for 1st place
- $300 NTUC Vouchers for best female (all players must be females) team
- $300 NTUC Vouchers for best veteran (all players must be born in 1976 or earlier) team
- All other prizes will be announced before Round 1 during briefing

Trophies will be given for the following age category winners (boys and girls):
U8 (all players must be born in 2018 or later)
U10 (all players must be born in 2016 or later)
U12 (all players must be born in 2014 or later)
U16 (all players must be born in 2010 or later)
JC/Varsity (all players must be studying in a JC or Varsity in Singapore)

The organising committee reserves the rights to amend the above rules and regulations without prior notice.

There will be strictly no refunds for no-show. Should any player be unable to participate, a replacement player may be allowed, provided that an additional ticket is purchased for the replacement by 29 August 2026, Saturday, 1200nn.

Rules and Regulations
  • Team composition: Each team to have 4 players, one of whom is the captain.
  • The board order must be submitted during registration. The board order will remain fixed and no changes is allowed upon submission.
  • The average rating of the players cannot exceed 2200 as of 1 August 2026. 
  • Unrated players will be deemed to be 1400 for calculation of average rating. 
  • All players must play in accordance to the board order submitted upon registration. Any wrong placing in the team would be deemed as a loss of the game.
  • All players, except for the captain, must leave the playing area once the game is over. 
  • The captain is responsible for checking and submitting the result at the end of the round.
  • Players cannot communicate with each other or the captain during the game.
Scoring: Each match is determined by match points. A win for the team gets 2 match points. A draw is one match point. A loss is zero match points. 

The result of the match is determined by the combined game points of the 4 players. Each win by a player is one game point, each draw is half game point. A loss is zero points. The team with the higher game point is deemed to have won the match. The match is drawn if both teams have the same game points(2-2). 
Teams with byes will be accorded 2 games points and 2 match points.
