- Verify that the FE is in proper working condition
- Recertify the FE for one year and issue a new inspection sticker dated from the recertification date

Event FAQ
1. Annual Servicing by an Authorised Technician will include:
- Visual inspection of the fire extinguisher (FE)
- Checking that the gauge is within the green zone
- Ensuring the nozzle can discharge properly
- Verifying the weight of the FE
- Checking the manufacturing date:
- For FEs less than 5 years old, hydrostatic testing and refilling of chemicals are not cost-justifiable (in line with Singapore Standard SS578:2019
- Affixing a new validity period sticker and TUV serial number sticker after inspection
2. What is excluded in the Annual Visual Inspection (AVI)?
Hydrostatic testing of the extinguisher tank and topping up any fire extinguisher chemicals or powder are not included in the AVI and will be charged separately
3. Will residents be provided with a temporary fire extinguisher while their unit undergoes the Annual Visual Inspection (AVI)?
No. Since the inspection is conducted on-site on the scheduled day, there are no interim fire extinguishers available for loan.
4. What types of fire extinguishers are eligible for the Annual Visual Inspection (AVI)?
Please bring your fire extinguisher on the scheduled day for the authorised technician to assess.
5. Can residents declare their fire extinguisher as Beyond Economic Repair (BER)?
Yes. If a resident decides that the extinguisher is BER, it can be disposed of through the vendor on the day of the exercise. A disposal fee of S$10 per unit will apply.
6. Can an expired fire extinguisher be discarded in the bin?
No. According to SCDF, expired or damaged fire extinguishers must be disposed of properly by an authorised vendor. Discarding them in the bin poses safety risks due to accidental discharge, mishandling, or improper use.
