Supporting documents will be required for proof of the baby’s date of birth, and the parents should email them to Bedok CC staff for the verification of the baby’s age.
The residential address of the parents should be within the East Coast GRC.
The above verifications are required for the baby to be registered for the Baby Race.
ELIGIBILITY AND PARTICIPATION
Maximum Number of Race Participants: Limited to the first 30 registered babies.
Age /Ability: Babies of 06 months to 18 months are welcome, provided they can crawl.
Date of Birth: Babies born between 12 January 2025 to 11 January 2026.
RACE MECHANISM
All babies will begin the race in a seated position or a ready to crawl position at the starting line.
The "No-Walking" Rule: This is a crawling-only event. If a baby stands up and takes a step at any point during the race, the baby is immediately disqualified.
Note: If a baby stands up but does not take a step and then drops back down to crawl, it is up to the Referee’s discretion.
Crying Baby: A race participant is allowed to be removed from the racetrack by their parents, but in doing so, the race participant will be considered disqualified.
Completion: Failure to complete the race will result in a disqualification. All race participants are required to race only once.
RACE STRUCTURE
Format: The contest consists of 3 heats (rounds).
Heat Size: 10 babies per heat.
Duration: Each heat will have a time limit of 3 minutes. If no baby crosses the finish line, the baby closest to the finish line when the buzzer rings will win that heat.
Scoring for the Winner: The first baby to have its entire body (or at least two hands) cross the finish line will be the winner.
Prizes: The winner of each heat (3 babies in total) will win shopping vouchers and a trophy.
Goodie Bag: All baby participants will receive a goodie bag.
PARENT AND GUARDIAN GUIDELINES
Positions: Two parents /guardians are allowed per baby. One must be at the Start Line to release the baby, and one must be at the Finish Line to encourage the baby to cross the line.
The "No-Touch" Zone: Once the race starts, parents /guardians cannot touch their baby. Touching, pushing, or pulling the baby toward the finish line will result in disqualification.
Motivation: Parents /guardians are encouraged to use "bait" to lure their babies. This includes toys, remote controls, keys or snacks.
Prohibited Items: Laser pointers or anything that could interfere with the race participants in the other lanes are prohibited.
Lane Integrity: Parents at the Finish Line must stay behind the designated line and avoid blocking the path of the other race participants.
Parents are advised to dress appropriately as bending and squatting down may be required when assisting their babies.
THE RACETRACK
Lane Assignment: All race participants will be assigned a numbered lane. They must stay (mostly) within their lane.
Surface: The lane track will be padded for safety.
Start Signal: The race begins only upon the Referee's whistle or "Go!" command.
