We at Yamaha believe that regardless of economic or cultural background, given the proper educational opportunities with good teachers, excellent musicians can be brought up anywhere in the world.
The ultimate proof of appropriateness of the contents and methodology of an education system is the demonstration of its results. Having such successful children, efficient in composing and performing, testifies to the validity of our educational activities.
As not all children are born with "natural talents." Yamaha does not focus its attention only on discovery of the gifted. Rather than developing a handful of geniuses, Yamaha feels that it would be more significant to give a large number of children the opportunity to make their life richer and fuller by having them study music and appreciate the joy of music.
You will find that our music courses are tailored to the physical, intellectual, psychological and social needs of the student. Skills are "layered" onto the students in a natural manner - much like the process through which we learn to speak.
For instance, students first get listen to a song, then they are taught to sing before learning how to play it. Group lessons are also featured prominently here, because they provide opportunities not only for social interaction among students, but also for ensemble playing and other group music activities.
YAMAHA MUSIC SCHOOL operates on the following principles:
The style and level of instruction is geared to both ability and development of the student.
The advantages of group training are given full play to create an enjoyable musical experience in a pleasant learning atmosphere.
Strong encouragement of the student's creativity will help achieve the goal of a comprehensive music education.
