Jason Chia has been practising Taekwondo since 1996 and has 10 years of experiences as a coach. In order to deepen his knowledge in martial arts, he has also taken up Chinese Martial Arts and Karate. This has put Jason in an advantage to be able to articulate the differences between those martial arts, their advantages and disadvantages, and how to combine the best of each arts to achieve a better practice and training. Jason has taught Taekwondo in various venues such as Jurong Spring Zone A RC, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic and Anchorvale CC. Based on the feedback from students, parents, Jason is able to deliver the training in a fun manner and is also well-liked. Jason Chia’ principle of teaching is based on “Learn through Playing”.

Taekwondo originated in Korea. Often translated as the way of hand and foot, it is the art of kicking, punching and unarmed combat. Mental discipline and emotional equanimity are important elements of the martial art. Participants should also note that there are different schools or systems of taekwondo which operate under different rules and have their own grading examinations and competitions. There is no common system to allow automatic transfers or crossovers from one class under one system to a class under another.
