Course Description
Speech and drama is an important building block to any child's development. Speech and Drama is a powerful way for children to learn the building blocks of effective communication. Speech and Drama enables children to develop the 5 Cs: Confidence, creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication.
Fear of public speaking and anxiety and being the centre of attention is common among many adults, especially those who did not have opportunities at a young age to challenge these natural fears. Speech and Drama helps children to express themselves in a safe environment without feeling judged.
One of the greatest assets we can develop in our children is strong interpersonal skills, enabling them to effectively communicate with people from all walks of life. Interpersonal skills include verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, positive teamwork and conflict resolution.
This class includes voice and speech exercises, improvisation, exposure to literature and fun drama journeys where learners collaborate to come up with a drama performance. Join us at the end of the programme for a confident performance of your little ones.
Requirements and Remarks:
No class 6 Nov. Speech and Drama (4 to 6 years old) By the end of Term 1, children will be able to: 1) Identify different parts of the stage e.g Upstage and Downstage 2) Use different voices for characterisation 3) To dramatise with simple dialogues and actions 4) Exhibit the core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring in their drama activities and interactions By the end of Term 2, children will be able to: 1) Create images through actions as a group to show their understanding of the story 2) Improvise group scenes and dialogues 3) Develop vocal expressions through voice, tone and speech projection 4) Exhibit the core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, caring and teamwork in their drama activities and interactions By the end of Term 3, children will be able to: 1) Express emotions through body, facial and voice 2) Articulate simple dialogues with clarity 3) Develop vocal expressions through analysis and exploration of different sounds 4) Exhibit the core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, caring and teamwork in their drama activities and interactions By the end of Term 4, children will be able to: 1) Use speech and gesture to enhance characters 2) Develop personal confidence and creativity 3) Act out short scenes with confidence 4) Exhibit the core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, caring and teamwork in their drama activities and interaction Min 5 to start.
