Course Description

The coming of age of 3D printing or otherwise known as additive manufacturing has transformed and revolutionized technology across many industries. Many industries are able to efficiently and effectively reduce waste as 3D printing offers environmentally friendly options for production. The usage of 3D printing in academic institutions is noticed to have play a part in increasing their confidence in new technologies through a fun and engaging way and enhancing performance. In the near future, every home can own a 3D printer and even prints objects limited only to your own imagination.

Requirements and Remarks:

This class is open to participants aged 13 and above. Participants will learn the fundamentals of 3D printing, the best practices, including the methodology, structural design, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, commonly used materials, and the specifications of a Fused Deposition Modelling printer. By the end of the class, participants should be able to: 1. Operate a Fused Deposition Modelling Printer 2. Design a personalised keychain tag using CAD software, print it, and bring it home 3. Understand the steps to print a 3D lithophane from a photo Note: Participants are required to bring their own laptop and a computer mouse. This class is open to participants aged 13 and above.
