Course Description

Participants will be taught a new choreographed retro dance medley which consists of 'The Twist', 'The Cha Cha Cha', 'The Saturday Night Fever' and 'The A Go-Go'. 'The Twist', made popular in the early 1960s and named after the song that originated it, is the first major international rock and roll style in which couples do not have to touch each other while dancing. 'The Cha-Cha-Cha', popularised during 1954, is an offshoot of the mambo. The dance consists of three quick steps (triple step or cha cha cha) and two slower steps on the one beat and two beat. The A Go-Go was a hit with the schoolgirls in the early 70s. The fundamentals to dance A Go-Go require stamina and a flexible body as Bounce is used throughout the dance.
