Cheryl Ong is a former journalist and sub-editor for The Straits Times who now focuses on content and digital marketing in the public healthcare sector. She holds a Bachelor of Communication Studies (Second Upper) from Nanyang Technological University, and uses her work experience to find ways to communicate concepts to different people, whether it is in healthcare or karate. She has been learning Ashihara Karate under the Lionheart Academy banner since 2011 and currently holds a black belt (shodan).

Karate is a traditional Japanese martial art and self-defence discipline that also serves as a popular competitive sport. Participants will learn fundamental techniques such as blocking, punching, striking, kicking, sparring, and proper body movements. Regular training develops strength, speed, coordination, balance, agility, focus, concentration, discipline, and self-confidence in a safe and structured environment.
