Teo Boon Chuan has his training in Japanese drums in Nagano, Japan and is also the leader and trainer for Japanese Drums with the Japanese Cultural Society. He has also performed at various events like the S'pore Arts Festival and National Kidney Foundation Charity Shows. He has been teaching at the CCs since 2004.

Originally used in war, the Japanese drum or 'taiko' is a common feature in Japanese classical or folk musicals. Power and energetic, it is performed with a display of physical feats and discipline.  The course will cover the different types of Japanese Drums as well as other supporting percussion instruments with proper demonstration and supervision.  Participants will gradually learn how to play in a group, either in a pure percussion group or fused with other instruments.
