Course Description
With consistent and simple actions, we can return organic material and life to Earth by creating living compost which is a useful product that helps make soil healthy, which in turn makes our plants healthier too.
Two days before the workshop, participants will receive a digital hand-out with information on materials to bring to the workshop. These include garden trimmings, food scraps, and a good pair of scissors.
Learn what living compost is, and why living compost is essential for healthy soil, healthy plants, nutrient-dense food, and even clean water.
In this workshop, we will be learning how to apply the hot compost method using everyday containers. The trainer will do a step-by-step demonstration, and then we will have hands-on.
Learn how to care for your container compost over the 1.5 months, and how to use the compost when it is ready.
For participants with no garden of your own, the trainer will also be sharing tips on where to donate well-made compost or food scraps.
Requirements and Remarks:
IMPORTANT NOTES: • Each participant will receive a self-modified composting container and enough carbon material (wood shavings or dried leaves) to get started at home. • A minimum of 8 participants is required for the session to commence. • Open to participants aged 8 and above. Young participants must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. • A material fee of $6.00 is payable directly to the trainer at the start of the class. • A confirmation email will be sent 3 days before the class date.
