Course Description
Try Hatha yoga – the ancient Indian art of healing, toning and rejuvenating the body that is suitable for all walks of life. Challenge your strength and flexibility while experiencing inner peace, calm and harmony through basic yoga poses, breathing exercises and concentration.
Requirements and Remarks:
Hatha Yoga is a safe and effective way to improve our body and mind. This Elementary course is suitable for all ages and levels, including those who have little or no experience in Yoga. Chew Ling varies her sessions with focus on different targeted areas, such as core strengthening, shoulder opening, and hip opening. Varying the postures allows practitioners to engage different parts of the body, avoiding repetitive stress injuries from doing the same postures day in, day out. Variations also help sustain interest and heightened awareness during each posture. Participants are taught not only how to get into the postures, but also how to integrate mindfulness of breathing and body into each posture. Apart from instructing and guiding the participants into the poses, Chew Ling also explains their benefits. Each session starts with tuning in to the body and mind, followed by loosening exercises. The class then moves to the postures, ending each session with deep relaxation (Savasana). With regular mindful practice, the practitioner experiences greater strength, balance and flexibility, in both body and mind. Please bring your own mat.
