Course Description

This workshop is done in a classroom setting and aims to equip you with the following knowledge:-
- Demonstrate the ability to navigate coastal waters.
- Acquire weather and tidal forecasts and apply interpretation skills.

Pre-requisites
- minimum SCF Kayaking 2 Star Certification or equivalent.
- 18 years old or over if conducted in the sea. No minimum age requirement if conducted indoors.

Syllabus
Demonstrate the basic use of navigational tools including nautical charts, compass, Tide and Current Tables.
- Identifying symbols and scale.
- Using nautical charts as a reference tool.
- Plot appropriate route plans with distances and time estimates.
- Follow route plans and adapt to conditions.
- Use Tide and Current Tables to predict tides and currents.
- Familiarity with basic right of way rules.


Certification
A certificate of participation is issued to participants successfully completed the workshop.
