Meenalochani Anandan is well trained in Bharatanatyam and Indian Folk arts. She holds a Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. She has been learning Bharatanatyam in SIFAS since 2004 and has completed her Arangetram in SIFAS on the year 2015. Her passion and interest have brought her to further explore Indian arts and culture in Chennai, India. She went for advanced Bharatanatyam course under The Dhananjayans, legends and further broaden her interest into traditional folk arts in India. She has performed in various variety shows on Vasantham Channel. Her interest in dance has allowed her to teach the techniques she learnt to various students and schools.

Bharatanatyam is a South-Indian classical dance form featuring intricate footwork, complicated hand gestures, and elaborate facial expressions. It conveys stories and feelings through its dynamic movement that's sharp and crisp, as well as soft and elegant, depending on the essence of the depiction.

The session will start with a 10 minutes warm up which includes energetic, strength building exercises like jumping jacks, squats etc to prepare students for the movements, ensuring safety and readiness of the body. The next 20 minutes will be intense physical movements, where students learn the basic steps (64 Adavus) and hand gestures and meanings. In the next 20 minutes, students get into groups and use the steps and gestures they learnt to innovate new steps/stories and choreograph, eventually performing it for one another.
