Course Description
Bharathanatyam is a South-Indian classical dance form featuring intricate footwork, complicated hand gestures, and elaborate facial expressions. It conveys stories and feelings through its dynamic movement that's sharp and crisp, as well as soft and elegant, depending on the essence of the depiction.
The session will start with a 15 minute warm up which includes strength building and flexibility exercises to prepare students for the intense movements in Bharathanatyam, ensuring safety and readiness of the body. The next 30 minutes will be intense physical movements, where the students learn the basic steps (64 Adavus) and gradually short traditional choreographies (Alarippu, Jethiswaram etc). In the last 15 minutes, students will cool down.
